Bringing Queer Representation to Grand Sci-Fi Sagas

Grant has authored short stories and plays since he was a young boy, when he first realized he was different from those around him. The realization of his gay identity, paired with early experiences of alienation and bullying, led him to find solace and imagination in science fiction across all its forms.
Later in his adult life, Grant became acutely aware of the lack of authentic representation for gay men in mainstream science fiction. In 2009, he wrote a short story about a gay man hiding in a spaceship cargo hold. That story sat untouched until 2017, when it blossomed into the full-fledged epic Life-Line: Origins.
Grant’s mission is to reach LGBTQ+ readers keen to see themselves authentically reflected in sweeping space adventures. He is currently hard at work on the next entries in the series, including Life-Line: Diversions.
Life at Otter Cottage
The Maritimes & Beyond
Grant lives in the coastal community of Fox Point, Nova Scotia, in “Otter Cottage” named for the spirited river animal with which he strongly identifies.
A retired French immersion teacher by trade, Grant loves to hike the rugged Atlantic trails, camp, garden, cook hearty meals, immerse himself in classic and modern sci-fi, and spend quality time with his faithful canine companion, Finn the Border Collie.
